Goo Goo Dolls
Alternative rock band, the Goo Goo Dolls, are performing at the Shrine Auditorium May 26.
Tickets go on sale April 9 at noon at Ernie November, Rimrock Mall, by phone at 800-514-ETIX or online at 1111presents.com or jadepresents.com. They are $39.50 for reserved floor seats or $29.50 for general admission. Vedera opens.
The Goo Goo Dolls, Buffalo, N.Y. natives, were dismissed early in their career as mere imitators of the Replace-ments. But they refined and mainstreamed their sound enough to become one of the most popular alternative rock bands of the 1990s.
The ballad "Iris,'' written in 1998 for the soundtrack to the Nicolas Cage/Meg Ryan film "City of Angels,'' spent 18 weeks on Billboard's top airplay charts. It was nominated for three Grammys.
